About Jane Turner

Jane began taking studio art lessons at age ten and continued throughout high school. After earning her degree in art education at Texas State University, she taught art in public schools for twenty-nine years in San Antonio, Texas. Studying with watercolorist Warren Hunter awarded her a scholarship to Coppini Academy of Fine Art. Her studies at Coppini included watercolor, still life, portraits, oils, and plein air landscapes. She also pursued studies abroad in Florence, Italy, focusing on plein air painting.

Currently, she is working on a body of work focused on botanicals. Her first art teacher studied and painted with Georgia O'Keeffe, influencing Jane's keen sense of color and affinity for organic forms, which led to the development of her unique and expressive style.

I believe life experiences teach us how to feel. As artists, we need to feel what we want to create inorder to give our work expression and soul. If you cannot feel, you cannot truly see. When we attempt to appreciate and engage our five senses, life becomes richly three dimensional.
